Faculty of Psychology UNY Establishes Strategic Partnership with Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia

Serdang, Malaysia, July 10, 2025 – The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FP UNY), officially entered into an academic collaboration with the Faculty of Educational Studies (FPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the FPP UPM Campus, Serdang. The signing of an Implementation Arrangement in the area of Visiting Professor programs marked the initial step of a series of strategic collaborations between the two faculties.

The meeting opened with remarks by Dr. Mohd Faiq Bin Abd Aziz, Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of FPP UPM, who presented the faculty’s research directions, academic development programs, and opportunities for inter-university cooperation. Meanwhile, Dr. Rosita Endang Kusmaryani, M.Si., Vice Dean for Planning, General Affairs, and Finance of FP UNY, introduced the Faculty of Psychology through a video company profile and outlined the focus of cooperation in research (joint research), education, and human resource development through student exchange and staff mobility.

One of the concrete programs agreed upon is the Visiting Professor program by Dr. Muh Asyraf Che Amat in September 2025. In this program, Dr. Muh Asyraf will teach topics on Mental Health for undergraduate psychology students at UNY, collaborate on the development of a new course syllabus on Mental Health and Psychopathology, and deliver a public lecture for postgraduate psychology students. This initiative marks a tangible implementation of the partnership between the two institutions.

Through this collaboration, FP UNY reaffirms its commitment to expanding its international network and contributing to the development of cross-border research. The partnership with FPP UPM is expected to strengthen FP UNY’s role as a center of psychological science with impact not only at the national level but also regionally and globally.
