PKM Workshop at the Faculty of Psychology UNY Features Dr. Sukinah: Enhancing Proposal Strategies through Intensive Mentoring

Yogyakarta, Sunday, October 26, 2025 — The Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), organized a Workshop on the Student Creativity Program (Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa/PKM) at the IDB Hall, Faculty of Education (FIP) UNY, from 08.30 to 12.00 WIB. The event featured Dr. Sukinah, M.Pd., Head of the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education UNY, as the main speaker. From the beginning, the session was marked by a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere as Dr. Sukinah presented strategies for developing strong, relevant, and competitive PKM proposals, emphasizing the importance of selecting the right scheme and ensuring measurable outcomes.
During the main presentation, Dr. Sukinah guided participants to begin with a clear problem formulation grounded in field data. She highlighted that a high-quality proposal must demonstrate a coherent logical flow — including a well-defined problem, specific and measurable objectives, realistic methods, and outcomes aligned with the selected scheme. Structured work planning, effective task distribution, and proportional budgeting were also emphasized as integral components. Ethical considerations, partnership readiness, and risk management were identified as key prerequisites to ensure that the program not only receives funding but also creates sustainable impact.
Following the presentation, the workshop continued with an intensive mentoring session. Participants were divided into small groups and guided by senior students and lecturers. Within these focused discussions, initial ideas evolved into concrete action plans: problem boundaries were refined, achievement indicators formulated, work steps organized chronologically, and resource needs prioritized. The mentoring process was dynamic, with each team receiving direct and constructive feedback on their titles, argument flow, methodological feasibility, and administrative completeness — often critical points in the proposal selection process.
The cross-faculty collaboration, marked by the presence of a resource person from the Faculty of Education, enriched participants’ perspectives. This evidence-based and practice-oriented approach is expected to improve both the quality and quantity of PKM proposals from the Faculty of Psychology UNY. Moreover, the activity reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to fostering a culture of applied research and community engagement that responds to societal needs, while empowering students to confidently advance through the PKM selection stages toward PIMNAS (National Student Scientific Week).
Concluding the event, the organizing committee encouraged participants to continue post-workshop consultations through the designated mentoring channels. With a more refined proposal framework, students are expected to finalize their manuscripts, complete administrative requirements, and submit their proposals according to the schedule. The workshop thus served as an important foundation for the emergence of impactful and sustainable PKM projects from the academic community of the Faculty of Psychology UNY.
