Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) will celebrate its 62nd Anniversary on May 21, 2026, under the theme “Optimizing Achievements to Create Impact.” This theme reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing academic excellence, innovation, and meaningful contributions to society, in line with the DIKTISAINTEK vision of building an inclusive, adaptive, and impactful higher education system to support Indonesia Emas 2045.
The anniversary celebration is designed not merely as a ceremonial event, but as a strategic series of programs involving the entire academic community and the public. A total of 12 major activities are organized, covering academic, sports, health, cultural, and social engagement aspects.
The series begins with the Cheerful Toddler Photo Competition held by Dharma Wanita Persatuan from April 15–30, 2026. This event fosters creativity while strengthening the sense of community within the extended UNY family.
Promoting a healthy lifestyle, the Fun Swimming event takes place on April 26, 2026, at the Vocational Faculty Swimming Pool in Wates. This initiative emphasizes the importance of balancing academic achievement with physical well-being.
Entering May, the programs become more dynamic. The Outstanding Student Selection (May 6–18, 2026) highlights students with exceptional academic and non-academic achievements, reflecting UNY’s dedication to nurturing competitive and high-quality graduates.
The spirit of togetherness is further embodied in the Fun Walk and Healthy Activity on May 8, 2026, engaging all members of the university. Additionally, the Inter-Agency Tennis Tournament on May 9–10, 2026 strengthens institutional relationships while promoting sportsmanship.
The highlight of sports activities is the UNY Internal Sports Week held on May 11–13, 2026, featuring various competitions that foster unity and teamwork among faculties. Concurrently, a Blood Donation Drive, in collaboration with PMI and Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, demonstrates UNY’s commitment to humanitarian values.
In the academic sphere, UNY organizes Professorial Inauguration Lectures on May 12 and 13, 2026. This event represents the highest academic achievement and showcases scholarly contributions to society. Furthermore, the Outstanding Lecturer Selection (May 13–16, 2026) reinforces a culture of excellence within the academic community.
Cultural enrichment is presented through the Student Ketoprak Festival on May 17, 2026, at the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture Performance Hall. This event serves as both a creative platform and an effort to preserve traditional culture among younger generations.
Through this comprehensive series of activities, the 62nd Anniversary of UNY is expected to serve as a moment of reflection and transformation. The university remains committed to strengthening its strategic role in education, research, and community service.
The spirit of “Impactful UNY” is envisioned to inspire all members of the academic community to continuously innovate, excel, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
