DARMA WARAS: PPK Ormawa of the UNY Faculty of Psychology Student Executive Board Holds Elderly Integrated Health Service (Posyandu Lansia) in Kajoran Hamlet, Banjaroyo Village

Banjaroyo, July 15, 2026 – The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) Team of the Student Executive Board (BEM KM) of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), carried out the Darma Waras Program through an Elderly Integrated Health Service (Posyandu Lansia) on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Kajoran Hamlet, Banjaroyo Village, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency.

The activity involved all members of the PPK Ormawa team together with six AGENPSY volunteers who supported the implementation of the community's regular elderly health service activities organized by local elderly health cadres. The program reflects the team's commitment to strengthening community-based initiatives that promote healthy and active ageing through preventive, promotive, and participatory approaches.

The event began with participant registration and blood pressure screening conducted by the local health cadres. The program was officially opened by the cadre representative, followed by an opening prayer and an introduction session between the PPK Ormawa team, AGENPSY volunteers, the elderly participants, and community cadres. The welcoming atmosphere fostered meaningful interaction and strengthened collaboration between university students and the local community.

To encourage an active lifestyle among older adults, participants joined an elderly exercise session led by instructors from the PPK Ormawa team. The exercise aimed to improve physical fitness, mobility, and overall health, enabling older adults to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Following the exercise session, participants received health examinations conducted by local health cadres and healthcare professionals from the community health center. The examinations included body weight measurement, blood pressure monitoring, and health consultations to assess participants' conditions while providing health education on healthy ageing.

The program also featured an interactive and enjoyable fun activity session facilitated by the PPK Ormawa team and AGENPSY volunteers. Beyond providing entertainment, the activities were designed to strengthen social connectedness, stimulate psychological well-being, and foster positive relationships among older adults, students, volunteers, and community members.

Before the program concluded, participants completed a pre-test as the baseline assessment for evaluating the impact of future program activities. The event ended with a group photo session, symbolizing the beginning of an ongoing partnership between the PPK Ormawa team, local elderly health cadres, and the residents of Kajoran Hamlet.

The Darma Waras Program serves as a community engagement initiative aimed at improving the physical health, psychological well-being, and social empowerment of older adults. As a follow-up, the team will continue supporting regular elderly health service activities and organize community empowerment programs, including hydroponic gardening activities in Banjaroyo Village. Through these initiatives, the program seeks to encourage older adults to remain healthy, active, productive, and socially engaged.

The implementation of the Darma Waras Program also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting preventive healthcare and healthy ageing, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by fostering inclusive and age-friendly communities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among the university, local health cadres, healthcare providers, volunteers, and the community to create sustainable social impact.
