DARMA WARAS: PPK Ormawa of the UNY Faculty of Psychology Student Executive Board Conducts an Elderly Integrated Health Service Program in Pantog Wetan Hamlet, Banjaroyo Village

Banjaroyo, July 18, 2026 – The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) Team of the Student Executive Board (BEM KM), Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), together with six AGENPSY volunteers, conducted another Elderly Integrated Health Service (Posyandu Lansia) activity as part of the Darma Waras Program on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Pantog Wetan Hamlet, Banjaroyo Village, Kalibawang District, Kulon Progo Regency.

The activity is part of the team's ongoing community engagement initiative to improve the health and well-being of older adults in Banjaroyo Village. In collaboration with local health cadres and healthcare professionals, the Darma Waras Program promotes preventive healthcare, health education, and community empowerment to support active, healthy, and independent ageing.

The program began with participant registration, followed by basic health examinations, including blood pressure measurement, body weight assessment, and waist circumference measurement. These routine screenings were conducted to monitor participants' health conditions and facilitate the early detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, obesity, and other metabolic disorders.

Following the health screenings, participants took part in an elderly exercise session led by the PPK Ormawa team. The exercise encouraged physical fitness, flexibility, and active lifestyles among older adults while creating an enjoyable and energetic atmosphere that fostered community participation.

The program continued with an Elderly School session delivered by healthcare professionals under the theme "Creating a Safe and Comfortable Home for Older Adults." The session provided practical education on age-friendly home environments, including home safety arrangements, fall prevention, and healthy daily living practices to improve the quality of life and independence of elderly community members.

The activity concluded with a group photo involving elderly participants, local health cadres, AGENPSY volunteers, and the PPK Ormawa team as documentation of the event and a symbol of the shared commitment to promoting healthy and age-friendly communities.

Through this program, the PPK Ormawa team hopes to encourage older adults to maintain both their physical and mental well-being while increasing awareness of the importance of creating safe and supportive living environments. The Darma Waras Program will continue through regular health assistance, educational activities, and community empowerment initiatives for older adults in Banjaroyo Village.

The implementation of the Darma Waras Program also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by strengthening preventive healthcare services for older adults, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting inclusive, safe, and age-friendly communities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among the university, healthcare providers, community health cadres, volunteers, and local residents to create sustainable community impact.
