UNY Undergraduate and Master's Programs in Psychology Earn ACQUIN International Accreditation, Strengthening the University's Journey toward a World-Class University

Yogyakarta – The Faculty of Psychology at Yogyakarta State University (Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta/UNY) has achieved another significant international milestone. The Undergraduate (Bachelor's) Program in Psychology and the Master's Program in Psychology have officially been awarded Fully Accredited status by ACQUIN (Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute), a prestigious German quality assurance agency. This achievement forms part of UNY's success in securing international accreditation for 17 study programs, reflecting the university's strong commitment to academic excellence and global quality standards.
The accreditation is the result of a rigorous evaluation process, including the preparation of comprehensive self-evaluation reports, an international site visit conducted by ACQUIN reviewers in February 2026, and extensive assessments of curriculum quality, governance, teaching and learning processes, research productivity, community engagement, internationalization initiatives, and internal quality assurance systems.
For the Faculty of Psychology, this international recognition represents a major milestone in its continuous quality enhancement efforts. The ACQUIN accreditation confirms that both the Undergraduate and Master's Programs in Psychology meet internationally recognized standards of academic quality and institutional governance. It is expected to strengthen public trust, expand international academic collaborations, increase opportunities for student and staff mobility, and enhance the global competitiveness of graduates.
This accomplishment also aligns with UNY's strategic vision of becoming a World-Class University. The university continues to strengthen its international reputation through global university rankings, expanded international partnerships, continuous improvement in education, research, and community service, as well as sustainable quality assurance practices. UNY's growing global recognition is evidenced by its achievements in the QS World University Rankings, further demonstrating its position as one of Indonesia's leading universities with increasing international competitiveness.
Beyond recognizing academic excellence, the ACQUIN accreditation serves as a driving force for the Faculty of Psychology to continuously innovate in teaching, research, and community engagement. The faculty remains committed to providing an academic environment that responds to emerging global challenges while maintaining strong national values and cultural identity.
Looking ahead, the Faculty of Psychology will continue expanding collaborations with international universities and institutions through student exchange programs, joint research projects, visiting professor initiatives, internationally indexed publications, and various cross-border academic activities. These initiatives are expected to further strengthen the faculty's role in producing globally competent, ethical, and socially responsible psychology graduates.
Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The achievement of ACQUIN International Accreditation contributes directly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 4 – Quality Education, by ensuring internationally recognized standards of higher education and continuous quality improvement.
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening international collaboration in education, research, and community engagement.
- SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through innovation in academic governance and the development of robust quality assurance systems that support institutional transformation.
Through this international accreditation, the Undergraduate and Master's Programs in Psychology at UNY reaffirm their commitment to delivering globally recognized psychology education while contributing to scientific advancement and the well-being of society at both national and international levels.
