Yogyakarta, September 26, 2026 — The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held the 2026 New Student Parents’ Meeting for undergraduate and master’s Psychology students through Zoom on Saturday (26/9). The event served as an opportunity to introduce the Faculty of Psychology’s academic environment while strengthening communication and collaboration between the faculty and the families of new students in supporting their educational journey.

The event began with a video showcasing various activities at the Faculty of Psychology UNY, followed by the opening session, the singing of the Indonesian National Anthem, Indonesia Raya, and the UNY Hymn. The event continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology UNY, Dr. Siti Rohmah Nurhayati, M.Si., Psychologist.

In her remarks, the Dean welcomed the parents and guardians of new students as part of the extended Faculty of Psychology UNY community. The meeting provided an opportunity to establish open communication between the faculty and families while sharing information that could help parents and guardians better understand students’ academic lives and personal development throughout their university studies. The event continued with remarks from a representative of the new students’ parents, Mrs. Siti Junaeni, M.Pd., parent of Muhammad Rizki Fauzi Amri, a 2026 student in the Undergraduate Psychology Study Program. Her participation provided a family perspective on the expectations, support, and role of parents in accompanying students as they transition into higher education.

Collaboration among students, families, and higher education institutions is an important element in creating an educational environment that supports student development. Such support extends beyond academic achievement to include students’ adaptation, independence, and personal growth throughout their university experience. One of the main sessions of the event was a talk show entitled “Getting to Know the Faculty of Psychology: Building Synergy for Students’ Future.” The session provided parents and guardians with an opportunity to learn more about the Faculty of Psychology UNY, including its academic environment, student life, and the various forms of support that families can provide throughout their children’s university journey.

The event continued with a question-and-answer session, allowing parents and guardians to raise questions directly with faculty representatives. This session enabled participants to gain a more comprehensive understanding of students’ academic experiences and university life. Through the 2026 New Student Parents’ Meeting, the Faculty of Psychology UNY continues to promote an educational ecosystem involving multiple stakeholders. The faculty not only provides academic learning but also creates opportunities for communication and collaboration with families as an important part of the environment supporting students’ educational journeys.

The event also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by contributing to an educational environment that supports students’ learning and development. In addition, the event reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening communication and collaboration between the university and students’ families.cBy establishing communication from the beginning of students’ university journey, the Faculty of Psychology UNY hopes to maintain a positive and continuous relationship with parents and guardians. This synergy is expected to contribute to collective efforts to support students as they learn, grow, and develop their potential throughout their studies at the Faculty of Psychology UNY.
