Faculty of Psychology UNY Congratulates Student Teams Advancing to the 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards

YOGYAKARTA — The Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) extends its congratulations to the Faculty of Psychology student team and a UNY Psychology student participating in an interfaculty team for qualifying for the 2026 Abdidaya Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (Ormawa) Awards. This achievement reflects the students’ commitment to developing innovative initiatives, strengthening community empowerment, and creating solutions that respond to real community needs.

The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) team from BEM KM Faculty of Psychology UNY qualified with its proposal entitled “DARMA HUSADA: Realizing a Healthy Banjaroyo Village through Community-Based, Holistic, and Intergenerational Health Empowerment.” The initiative focuses on a holistic, community-based approach to health empowerment involving people across different generations in Banjaroyo Village. By placing community participation at the centre of the programme, DARMA HUSADA seeks to strengthen health awareness, encourage active involvement in maintaining well-being, and support the sustainability of community health initiatives.

Through DARMA HUSADA, the development of a healthy village is approached by strengthening the capacity of community members to take an active role in promoting health for themselves, their families, and their surroundings. Its intergenerational perspective recognises that the health needs of children, adolescents, adults, and older people are interconnected and require complementary forms of support. Community involvement is expected to foster greater independence, social responsibility, and the continuation of healthy practices within Banjaroyo Village.

The Faculty of Psychology UNY also recognises the achievement of Fatih Razin Zaidan, a Psychology student who is part of the UKM REALITY FIP UNY team. The team qualified with its proposal entitled “KSATRIA (Kebonharjo Sehat Tangguh Berdaya) through the GIZIMPACT Institution: Optimising Curcuma Potential to Strengthen Health Self-Reliance among Vulnerable Communities.” Fatih’s participation demonstrates the contribution of UNY Psychology students to interfaculty collaboration aimed at developing community empowerment initiatives centred on health and the sustainable use of local resources.

The KSATRIA proposal explores the potential of Curcuma, a group of plants that includes turmeric and related rhizomes, as part of an initiative to strengthen health self-reliance among vulnerable communities through the GIZIMPACT institution. By drawing on locally available resources, the programme highlights the importance of connecting community assets with empowerment initiatives that address local needs. The proposed approach aims to support the development of community knowledge and capacity to promote more sustainable and independent health practices. The two programmes represent complementary approaches to community empowerment. DARMA HUSADA emphasises holistic health promotion through community participation and intergenerational engagement, while KSATRIA focuses on local potential as a resource for strengthening health self-reliance among vulnerable groups. Both initiatives demonstrate how student-led programmes can be developed through contextual, collaborative, and impact-oriented approaches.

The 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards are organised by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs under Indonesia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, with Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) in Makassar serving as the host from 21 to 25 October 2026. The national event brings together 120 teams from 60 higher education institutions to recognise community empowerment initiatives developed through the PPK Ormawa programme. Participation provides students with an opportunity to present their programmes, exchange experiences with peers from other universities, and expand collaborative networks to support the long-term sustainability of their community initiatives.

These achievements also contribute to the broader objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). DARMA HUSADA aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through its focus on community health and well-being, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among students, student organisations, universities, and local communities. KSATRIA is similarly relevant to SDG 3 through its emphasis on health self-reliance among vulnerable groups, as well as SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) through its attention to communities that may require additional support in accessing health knowledge and resources. Both initiatives also reflect the spirit of SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting stronger and more sustainable communities.

The Faculty of Psychology UNY appreciates the students’ commitment to interdisciplinary and interfaculty collaboration in addressing community needs. Psychology students’ involvement in health-related empowerment programmes also creates opportunities to apply psychological perspectives to health behaviour, community participation, social support, and sustainable behavioural change. Congratulations to the BEM KM Faculty of Psychology UNY PPK Ormawa team and to Fatih Razin Zaidan and the UKM REALITY FIP UNY team on qualifying for the 2026 Abdidaya Ormawa Awards. May this achievement serve as a platform for further innovation, broader collaboration, and meaningful contributions to society.

Keep creating, collaborating, and making a positive impact on Indonesia!
