Faculty of Psychology UNY Finalizes Internal Quality Audit Form to Strengthen a Culture of Continuous Quality Improvement

Quality assurance is a fundamental component of higher education. Universities and higher education institutions are expected not only to provide high-quality learning processes but also to ensure that academic and non-academic governance is implemented in a systematic, documented, measurable, and continuously improving manner. This commitment has become increasingly important amid growing expectations for accountability, educational relevance, effective governance, and quality services for students and other stakeholders.

Educational quality encompasses more than learning outcomes. It also involves the broader systems, institutional capacities, learning environments, and governance mechanisms that support the delivery of meaningful and sustainable education. UNESCO places quality education at the center of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which promotes inclusive, equitable, and quality education. Strengthening institutional systems, capacities, and evaluation processes is an important component of sustaining educational improvement.

From an institutional governance perspective, quality assurance is also closely connected to SDG 16, particularly Target 16.6, which calls for effective, accountable, and transparent institutions. This principle is highly relevant to internal quality assurance in higher education, as institutional evaluation provides a mechanism to examine the implementation of established standards, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen institutional accountability. As part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving educational quality, the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) conducted the Finalization of the Faculty Internal Quality Audit (AMI) Form on Monday, 28 September 2026. The activity commenced at 3:30 p.m. WIB and continued until completion at Meeting Room 2, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Psychology Building, UNY.

The finalization of the AMI form represents an important stage in the Faculty of Psychology UNY's internal quality evaluation process. The activity focused on ensuring the readiness of documents and information required for the audit process, while also aligning data, supporting evidence, and the implementation of quality standards across various aspects of educational management. This process is particularly significant as the Faculty of Psychology UNY oversees academic programs at both the Bachelor of Psychology and Master of Psychology levels. Although the two programs have different characteristics and educational orientations, both require a consistent, well-documented, and improvement-oriented quality management system to support academic excellence and effective educational services.

Through the finalization of the AMI form, the Faculty of Psychology UNY strengthened the readiness of data and documentation reflecting the implementation of various aspects of program and institutional management. Internal evaluation is therefore not merely an administrative exercise. Rather, it forms part of a continuous quality improvement cycle that enables the faculty and study programs to examine the alignment between established standards, actual implementation, available evidence, and areas requiring further development.

For the Bachelor of Psychology and Master of Psychology programs, the process also provides an opportunity to strengthen the connection between planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up actions. The findings of the internal evaluation are expected to provide a foundation for more focused improvement and development initiatives in areas including academic management, governance, human resources, student services, and study program administration.

The implementation of the Internal Quality Audit also reflects the Faculty of Psychology UNY's commitment to cultivating a quality culture that goes beyond formal compliance and documentation. A sustainable quality culture should become an integral part of institutional practice, encouraging all members of the organization to view evaluation, reflection, and continuous improvement as an ongoing process. By strengthening its internal quality assurance system, the Faculty of Psychology UNY continues to support the delivery of high-quality education through the Bachelor of Psychology and Master of Psychology programs. This effort contributes to the broader achievement of SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, particularly through the enhancement of educational quality and the development of effective, accountable, and transparent institutional governance.

The finalization of the Faculty Internal Quality Audit form marks another step in the Faculty of Psychology UNY's ongoing journey to strengthen quality, enhance governance, and deliver high-quality psychology education through a culture of continuous improvement.
